Madison Receives International Accreditation
The Madison Elementary School District and all eight of its schools have been internationally accredited, recognizing the district's exceptional educational system of meeting the needs of all students. Madison is the first elementary district in the state to receive this honor. The accreditation occurred on April 21, 2009 through AdvancED . AdvancED is the world's largest educational community representing over 23,000 schools across 65 countries. To earn accreditation, a district must meet the AdvancEd standards of rigorous and research-based curriculum; a commitment to continuously improve; and effective and responsive leadership and communication with stakeholders. Additionally, accreditation provides the district with a framework to continually improve student achievement and district performance. Representatives from AdvancEd noted that all components of Madison's system of education, including the district, schools and classroom, operate as an aligned and systemic team- a rarity for an elementary district.
